  • Framing the Foundations

In this dialogue-based workshop, participants examine, analyze, and apply the Six Foundations of Louisiana Anti-Bias (LAB) Education's pedagogy. Participants apply strategies for each foundation to virtual and brick-and-mortar school communities. By the end of this workshop, participants will create goals and identify boundaries for their own anti-bias practice.

  • Tough Talks

In this dialogue-based workshop, participants learn key strategies for preparing, facilitating, following tough talks in the classroom. Strategies include but are not limited to developing a comprehensive rationale, creating discussion-based lessons, and reflecting on facilitation bias.

  • Talk Now!

In this dialogue-based workshop, participants learn key strategies for facilitating spontaneous class discussions using the LAB Education’s foundation evidence. Participants will also learn LAB Education’s Six Foundations, which provide educators a framework and reference to implement strategies and lessons that promote equity, anti-racism, and critical thinking.

  • Foundation Focus: Boundaries

In this dialogue-based workshop, participants explore LAB Education’s Six Foundations with a special emphasis on Boundaries. By the end of this workshop, participants identify boundaries and reflect on their own transparency in communicating those boundaries for their anti-bias practice. Participants also set goals for their anti-bias practice.

  • Foundation Focus: Transparency

In this presentation, presenters define transparency and the role it plays in anti-bias teaching. We model transparency with students, guardians, and colleagues. By the end of the presentation, participants learn transparency strategies to develop trust, community, and identify areas of growth in anti-bias pedagogy.

  • Foundation Focus: Self and Community

In this presentation, presenters explore concepts such as bias, prejudice, and privilege and how they influence an educator’s sense of self and community. Participants learn strategies to build community, practice self-reflection, and establish self-awareness.

  • Foundation Focus: Growth

In this presentation, presenters explore the relationship between vulnerability and growth. Participants receive a graphic organizer to reflect on needs and boundaries and set goals for their anti-bias practice.

  • Teaching History: Respecting the Past, Present, and Perspective

This workshop provides educators with strategies to connect current events to social studies curricula using LAB Education’s anti-bias framework. These strategies emphasize making connections using evidence, identifying trends in events and themes, text selection, written reflection, and community building while meeting state standards.
