The Louisiana Council for the Social Studies (LCSS) 53rd Annual Conference: Bridging the Literacy Gap In Social Studies will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at University of Louisiana - Lafayette Cecil J. Picard Center for Child Development and Lifelong Learning. This event is expected to be a wonderful revival for the social studies community as we meet in-person for the first time since the infamous COVID-19 Pandemic.

100 days of conversation: a virtual conversation hosted by lab education

May 6th, 2021 5pm CST. LAB Education is hosting a virtual conversation for Louisiana students, educators, and community members. 100 Days of Conversations is a collaborative project organized to catalyze conversations in communities across the country.

These conversations will be analyzed and highlighted for collective dreams and turned into policy advocacy briefs to be shared back to the participating communities and with state and federal education departments, nonprofit organizations, and educators.

Talk Now Workshop

March 25th at 5:30pm CST

Louisiana Anti-Bias Education is hosting a virtual dialogue based workshop to support educators looking to facilitate anti-bias conversations, lessons, and activities about current events and social justice topics.

This workshop will provide a framework and reference to implement strategies that promote tolerance, anti-racism, and critical thinking in virtual and brick and mortar classrooms. We will discuss the foundations of anti-bias practices, provide sample student scenarios for educators to practice their “teacher responses,” and create a space for educators to discuss best practices for their community.
